Do You Need a Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program that provides coverage for people over 65 and those with specific disabilities or illnesses. If you live in Charlotte, NC and are on Medicare, you may want to consider purchasing a supplemental insurance plan.

Here are some key points to consider when deciding if you need a Medicare supplement plan:

What is a Medicare Supplement Plan?

A Medicare supplement plan (also known as Medigap) is an additional health insurance policy that helps cover costs such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles that Medicare doesn’t cover. A supplement plan can help fill in the gaps left by Medicare, so you don’t have to worry about footing large medical bills out of pocket.

When Should You Consider Getting a Supplement Plan?

Suppose your budget allows it and you want extra coverage for medical expenses not included under Medicare (such as vision care or hearing aids). In that case, getting a supplement plan may be worth considering. Furthermore, if you frequently travel outside the US, having a supplemental policy can be beneficial since original Medicare does not cover overseas medical expenses.

Will It Cost Me Anything Extra?

In general, having both original Medicare and a supplement plan will cost more than just having Medicare alone. It’s important to research different programs carefully to determine which one best fits your needs and budget before making any final decisions. Work with Kempton Insurance Group in Charlotte, NC to find the best plan for you and your needs.

Similar to any other insurance plan, healthcare insurance plans often have gaps in coverage. These vary from plan to plan, but they can be substantial for some people, causing out-of-pocket costs to increase.

Because Medicare plans often have gaps in coverage, supplement insurance helps to ensure that more of your medical bills are covered to save you money. If you’ve seen the gaps in your healthcare coverage and it’s made you worry about how you would pay for medical bills, Medicare supplement insurance is a great option for you.

There are some things this type of insurance won’t cover, however. These include eye care, dental care, and a few other specific types of care. However, our agents can help you find a dental and eye care plan that works for your needs.

Healthcare can be a financial burden on many families – don’t let it control your life. Supplemental insurance is a great way to protect yourself and your family. It also provides peace of mind should you ever need medical attention, it won’t devastate your financial situation.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan Options in North Carolina

In some cases, it helps to have insurance professionals, such as the professionals at Kempton Insurance Group in Charlotte, NC, give you advice on policy enrollment. If you enroll in Medicare, several costs are not covered by the program. To cover these costs, many people see the value in paying for a Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan option, otherwise known as a Medigap insurance policy.

These plans are sold to people by private insurers; however, they are also under strict governmental control on the federal and state levels. These plans are available to people enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B and are not for those who have chosen a Medicare Advantage Plan.

As of 2010, there are 10 Medigap plan options; they are designated by A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. C and F pay the deductible for Part B, which covers outpatient services, such as doctors’ visits. F covers the 15 percent in extra charges that doctors who aren’t participants in the program can charge, and C does not. However, C and F are not available to people who have just become eligible for the program. Plan G is very similar to Plan F, and Plan D is the closest option to Plan C so that these individuals can look into these alternatives.

As long as the plan has the same letter, in North Carolina, the plans do not vary based on the insurer; there is a degree of standardization in these plans.

If you are interested in learning about your Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan Options in Charlotte, NC, you should feel free to contact the professionals at Kempton Insurance Group. They will be able to tell you which option is best for you.
